💡 An AI prompt for visual analogies

Yesterday we talked about the power of visuals and visual analogy when describing your clients’ pain.

Being able to articulate your ICP's pain using vivid mental imagery can communicate empathy and accelerate trust.

For example, say you’re an executive coach for tech founders.

Talking to prospective clients, saying simply:

I know you’re under a lot of stress

…doesn’t quite signal that you deeply understand what they’re experiencing.

Especially if they know you’ve never been a founder yourself!

But instead, if you tell stories or write content saying:

Being a tech founder is like sitting in a room full of ticking time bombs, desperately trying to keep each one from going off.

A founder might think, ‘this coach gets it.’

And even further, this mental image becomes your internal avatar for that core problem that you’re uniquely able to resolve.

When I suggest that consultants develop visual analogies, many are quick to say “yeah, I’m not that creative.

Here are two brainstorming options:

  1. Keep an ear out — in market discovery conversations, listening tours, podcast episodes, coffee chats, listen for verbatims about how your target clients are describing their pain points. They may use an analogy themselves, or their words might trigger one in your own mind
  2. Leverage your robot sidekick — That’s right. With the right prompt and a bit of context, you can have ChatGPT (or other LLMs) derive vivid visual analogy options that can help you paint the picture of your clients pain in an emotionally resonant way.

Once again, I’ve created and posted a ChatGPT prompt and full sample output for you to try out. (No password required.)

All it requires is you to insert:

  • Your ideal client profile (ICP)
  • 2-3 sentences describing their biggest relevant pain point

Then just see what analogies come back.

That mental image of the founder with the ticking time bombs?

That was 🤖’s idea, among several others.

Then it’s up to you to test out which one fits best.

Give it a try - I’d love to hear/see what you came up with.

Also, drop me a line and let me know if you like these prompts - if there’s interest, perhaps I can turn them into a regular feature.

P.S. - I have just one spot remaining in my AI-infused NicheFinder pilot - a three-session 1:1 sprint with me to help you triangulate your genius zone and select a viable ICP with speed and conviction. Special pilot pricing is in effect!

If you want to learn more, just reply ‘NicheFinder’ and I’ll send over the details for you to consider. I don't hard-sell.

That last spot would kick off Feb. 5th, and the sprint lasts about a week, with a check-in a month later.
