Remember these? Introduced in 1939, the View-Master was initially conceived as an alternative to the postcard. The concept: a simple “reel” of seven frames could transport someone to places they’ve never been. The gadget, whose brand once had name recognition of 65% of the world’s population (!!), evolved into an adult learning tool, then a children’s toy. Even today, the nostalgic system has seen a minor resurgence as a kitschy way to present dessert menus or promote real estate listings. ​ As quaint and low-tech as the toy may seem to us now, a consultant’s core job is not much different, particularly in marketing and sales conversations:
