Nicky Bell is a solo founder on a mission to empower sanity checks on AI. As Founder of Powered Analysis, Nicky builds guardrails for AI data analysis to encourage reliable AI adoption. More broadly, as a Maven instructor, he teaches business leaders how to spot and correct errors in AI data analysis before it’s too late. This is an increasingly important skill as AI finds a fast-footing across enterprises of all sizes. But it’s also inherently technical, which is why Nicky uses visuals to help drive the deeper insights home. During my IRIS workshop last month, Nicky ran this visual through the tool. IRIS returned a ‘Genuinely Good’ rating, specifically citing its eye-catching comic book aesthetic and food-based visual metaphors as a particularly resonant way of educating his audience about the different types of AI hallucinations. In just a few seconds, a viewer can get past “we all know AI hallucinates” and into “oh, yeah, there are different types of hallucinations” — and then start to consider, “which of these am I seeing, and how can I fix them?” What’s cool about this example is that the image itself is AI-generated, but not in a lazy, sloppy way. It was obviously thought through well enough that the visual metaphors actually convey the intended insights and takeaway. As IRIS always does, she still recommended some potential upgrades. In this case, introducing the potential intervention strategy, and perhaps a visual nudge to define terms like “ontological” for those unfamiliar. (Full IRIS output below.) But all in, this is a solid piece of visual IP that can spark insights and a conversation, which is what we’re here to do. Thanks for sharing this, Nicky. And if you have been playing around with the IRIS tool and received a ‘Geniunely Good’ rating, please send it my way at wes@developmyip.com, and I’ll feature it here in The Lightbulb. It’s a relatively high bar (~20% of critiques have received IRIS’s green flag of glory), but there’s a growing queue of GG submissions coming your way. Thanks to all who've sent theirs in! 💡 -Wes Nicky's full IRIS output: |
