So how do we identify our genius zone? The easy answer is you probably “just know”: What comes to your mind first when I ask:
​ The trap in this type of brainstorming is that we often jump to how we will monetize that genius zone. “Sounds great, but there’s not a market for that.” “I can’t make a living from [xyz]” “Who’s gonna pay for just [xyz]?” ​ Resist the urge! Your genius zone is about you. We’ll find the overlap with the market later. For now, focus on what energizes you. Your unique core strengths and the work that feels effortless and impactful. ​ Got 10 minutes today? Set a timer and throw this prompt into ChatGPT. See where you land. “I’m exploring my zone of genius (inspired by the concept from Gay Hendricks’ The Big Leap) and need your help. Here’s what I know about myself so far: [insert specific strengths, work you enjoy, tasks that energize you, etc.]. Based on this, I’d like you to help me craft a clear and inspiring zone of genius statement. Please ask me follow-up questions to dig deeper into my unique skills, passions, and the impact I want to create, so we can refine this together.”
