Could you make a week’s worth of dinners from the groceries in your fridge & pantry? Probably. You start with a few bangers. A chicken stir fry made with fresh vegetables. Salmon piccata with a side of asparagus. Hey, let’s grill some burgers with that meat we’ve had frozen for a while. This doesn’t seem so bad. Besides, the groceries you stock tend to coincide with your tastes and culinary abilities. But as the days go on, you have to get more and more creative. You’ve exhausted the fresh protein and produce. I guess I’ll make a tuna casserole - that’ll last me a few days. Mac & cheese sounds good, I guess. Then you start scrounging: A peanut butter & jelly will have to do. Does a boxed sheet cake count as dinner? Using your warm network as your sole lead generation strategy is like making dinner from your pantry. It’s definitely doable at the beginning. In fact, your first clients probably will come out of your 1st- or 2nd-degree connections. Perhaps you can even build a year’s worth of business from them. But you won’t like everything you eat. And it is certainly not sustainable. Instead, you could go out and select your ideal dinner every night. And keep your pantry as your backstop. 💡 -Wes |
