💡 Free 'Practice'

Being a soloist is freeing and exhilarating.

It’s also messy, frustrating and yes, sometimes lonely.

Earlier this week, I took my friend and fellow soloist Brad Did up on his offer for a ‘Connect’ call.

A free, no-strings, watercooler-type call just to chat and, well, connect.

As much as I like to tout the benefits of fleeing the corporate cage and the baggage that came with it, what also often gets tossed are these types of impromptu conversations that used to happen in the lunch room, in the food truck line, on the bus ride home, etc.

If we want that maintain that type of connection, we have to actively create opportunities for it.

It's just one of the dues we pay for a cage-free life.

As we caught up, Brad shared with me an experiment he has underway in this same vein.

It’s called Practice Saying It Out Loud - it's exactly what it sounds like.

He’s trying to practice saying what he does with 30 people over the next month, and figures other solos might need to practice with another human being as well.

You both get 5 minutes to share what you do, out loud and messy, and get feedback.

And that’s it.

If you could use a rep or two finding your words, grab one of Brad's totally non-commercial 15-minute ‘Practice’ slots over the next couple weeks -- as of this morning, he said he has ~13 left.

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more attentive listener and selfless sounding board.

Enjoy your weekend.
