💡 Getting ready to listen

So now you have a service hypothesis. Time to get some feedback.

Now you’re thinking: “wait wait, this is wayyy too rough to show anyone.”

That’s the point!

As we discussed when developing your IP, if it’s too polished, you won’t get the brutal, honest feedback you’re after.

Instead, you’ll hear a lot of confirmatory, complimentary niceties that won’t do you a ton of good.

Take what you have and let’s get you out there…

Go through your LinkedIn and make a list of 10 1st- or 2nd-degree connections that are in your ICP.

Personalize the outreach, but the main points are:

  1. “I hope you’re well…”
  2. “I’m branching into consulting and have an early idea of service in mind.”
  3. “Would you have 20 minutes in the next week or so to get some feedback?”
  4. “Don’t worry, this is a non-sales conversation - I don’t even have anything to sell you yet!”
  5. “If you’re up for it, do you have a calendar link, or I’m happy to send mine.”

Expect to hear ‘yes’ from 5 people.

And boom, you’ve got a Listening Tour scheduled.

What do you do with them once you get on the call?

I'll give you one guess...
