Researching, deriving, iterating, and publishing a one-size-fits-all solution for a universal problem is extremely difficult. Hence, the outsized return when you arrive at something that sticks. But as a consultant building your IP, you can scale that way, way down. You get to focus on a solution for just one problem, that matters urgently to a relatively tiny cross-section of the universe.
