đź’ˇ LISTEN: Talking all things IP on 'Stop the Noise' podcast

I recently stopped by Stop the Noise, Susan Tatum’s long-running podcast that covers how consultants and solopreneurs can differentiate themselves in a crowded market.

As Susan says in her show intro:

“Being the same won’t keep you safe — it will make you easy to replace and even easier to ignore.”

With that premise, it was naturally fitting to discuss why developing your unique IP is, in my view, the most important investment a consultant can make to build a differentiated and sustainable business.

If you’ve been on this list a while, you will have heard some of this in bits and pieces, but I hope it’s helpful to hear it synthesized into one conversation.

I even give a peek behind the curtain of writing this daily list!

Susan and I cover:

  • [01:15] What is IP, and why is it important for solo consultants?
  • [03:54] Going from experience → insights → IP (w/ real client example)
  • [11:55] The 7 cascading benefits of using IP that lead to new client work
  • [16:06] How big consulting firms have done this for decades, and why soloists need to catch up
  • [17:30] Tips & tools for developing your unique IP on your own

Check out the episode over your morning coffee or weekend walk, and please pass it along to other consultants in your network if you’ve found it helpful.

Thanks again, Susan, for inviting me on!
