💡 Side-stepping the moving walkway

When you’re walking through an airport and approaching a moving walkway, what do you do?

Conventional wisdom says you get on the moving walkway, and keep walking while on it to get to the other side more quickly.

Yet some will walk alongside the walkway—sometimes to avoid getting trapped, sometimes for the challenge, and sometimes just to stop at McDonalds along the way.

The choice between corporate and self-employment is similar.

On the one hand, you have built-in momentum and guardrails to get you to a defined ‘other side.’

On the other, you give up all that for the free rein to go in whatever direction you want, at any speed you desire.

There is no “right” path.

You may even oscillate throughout your career.

Rather, the question is:

Are you acting with intention? Or following a default?
