đź’ˇ Step right up...

Vying for a giant audience on LinkedIn is like trying to win that huge stuffed gorilla at a carnival.

You didn’t come to the carnival specifically for it, but you’re drawn in because we’re wired to want the biggest prize and to emulate others who have it.

If you do win it, the immediate reward is the dopamine hit of victory, followed by the attention and accolades walking around the carnival with your catch.

But then you get to the parking lot.

How do you fit that gorilla in your car?

What do you do with it when you get home?

How many times do you move it before it ends up in the garage?

And then, when’s your next garage sale…

To be sure, building a social media presence is critical for a solo consulting business.

But it’s important to be intentional about what you’re after.

What would you do with 20k followers, when your magic number is 15?

And is it worth the time and effort it would take you to get there?

In this case, going after the “biggest” prize, may turn out to be all fluff.
