A friend and I were lamenting over the weekend (publicly) about the sheer amount of forgettable content you see all around, despite all the tools at our disposal. Some of it is āAI slopā, yes, certainly. But I believe most of what people create and share is well-meaning. I refuse to believe everyone is out here just generating trash to try to trick an algorithm. My proof (and hope) lies in the countless 1:1 conversations I have with independent consultants every month who truly have a valuable lens/POV to share with people in their domain, and who do actually want to help. The problem lies in transmission. Getting whatās āup hereā (š š§ š) āout thereā ( 𤲠) So, I built something yesterday. Itās a web app for solo consultants that will take any visual youāre thinking about posting on LinkedIn⦠ā¦critique your visual from the lens of your ideal client⦠ā¦and give you specific suggestions for elevating it beyond the āforgettableā bar Iāll share the app with you tomorrow ā Iād love some early feedback as I continue calibrating it. But first, Iāll offer a high-level version of my underlying āIRISā framework itās based on:
I-R-I-S - like eye, like vision, get it? š Pass all of those questions, and youāve got a great visual to share. Miss one or two, you might get some fleeting attention, but nothing to show for it. Skip most of them, youāre in āforgettableā territory, and perhaps even written off as a slop-artist. š§ Think of the last visual you shared broadly with your domain (on LinkedIn or otherwise). How would you grade yourself using the IRIS framework? Tomorrow you can check if my model agrees. š” -Wes |
