đź’ˇ The IP is coming from inside the house

Once you’ve extracted your insights into durable IP artifacts, you’ll notice you’ll want to put them everywhere.

Your website, proposals, marketing collateral.

Why? Because they succinctly explain your differentiated POV on a particular problem within your domain.

But wait — what’s currently on your website? your proposals? your marketing collateral?

Yes, my friends — you might have already started down the path of IP development without even realizing it.

For example:

  • Does your website feature copy highlighting your overarching domain POV?
  • Do you have a slide or section from a proposal outlining the arc of a proposed engagement? Could that not be sanitized/generalized to represent how you’d approach this problem for any client?
  • Do you have visuals or talking points you share repeatedly on LinkedIn? on podcasts? at conferences?

Think about where you already talk about your differentiated approach to your problem space.

That’s where you’ll find great source material you can polish into IP.
