Here’s the gist of what I said (episode will be out in a couple weeks): You’ve probably got 20+ years of hard-won expertise. So when someone asks a question or books a call, you can just…riff. That’s the first layer: free-flow conversation. It’s intuitive, reactive, and totally natural. The problem is most expertise never escapes that level. And in turn, it disappears the moment the...","campaignId":19667799,"publicationId":16235486,"metaDescription":""},{"id":9218671,"title":"💡 FIFA wants what??","slug":"fifa-wants-what","status":"published","readingTime":1,"campaignCompletedAt":"2025-05-28T21:35:11.000Z","publishedAt":"2025-05-28T21:35:11.000Z","orderByDate":"2025-05-28T21:35:11.000Z","timeAgo":"4 days","thumbnailUrl":"https://embed.filekitcdn.com/e/dRt5QW5T7jhDvbCDfjC4Wz/3dPscJYrb2zevwpLKCEpkh","thumbnailAlt":"","path":"posts/fifa-wants-what","url":"https://thelightbulb.developmyip.com/posts/fifa-wants-what","isPaid":null,"introContent":"My home city of Seattle is hosting six of the World Cup games next summer. It’s a massive opportunity for visibility for the city, but it also comes with some interesting fine print. One quirky detail released today: our stadium, Lumen Field, along with some fancy seat upgrades, will have to strip every sign with its own name on it. For the month-long tournament, it’ll be known as “Seattle Stadium” instead. Why the non-descript name? Because FIFA bans corporate stadium names unless you’re an...","campaignId":19639345,"publicationId":16206937,"metaDescription":""},{"id":9205710,"title":"💡 All umbrellas are not created equal","slug":"all-umbrellas-are-not-created-equal","status":"published","readingTime":1,"campaignCompletedAt":"2025-05-27T22:25:04.000Z","publishedAt":"2025-05-27T22:25:04.000Z","orderByDate":"2025-05-27T22:25:04.000Z","timeAgo":"5 days","thumbnailUrl":"https://embed.filekitcdn.com/e/dRt5QW5T7jhDvbCDfjC4Wz/eCuaxXDeEf8ZSLiRLmNSdk/email","thumbnailAlt":"","path":"posts/all-umbrellas-are-not-created-equal","url":"https://thelightbulb.developmyip.com/posts/all-umbrellas-are-not-created-equal","isPaid":null,"introContent":"While on vacation with my friend Anthony last summer – the same trip as that “failed tiramisu” – we had another experience that left us baffled, at least for the moment. We had just arrived in Gran Canaria and had a few hours to enjoy the hotel pool before heading into town for dinner. Anxious to get some sun, I lathered up sunscreen and began my roast. Anthony opted to stay under the umbrella, having already been on a beach vacation for a week already by that point. Catching up with a former coworker and fellow soloist this morning, the conversation quickly turned to AI. The types of new tools available. The quality of output. The learning curve. And oh yes, the existential dread. I’m sure it’s no surprise that this topic comes up daily, and understandably so. The progress is fast. The adoption is striking. The value is real. And while some clients are more forthcoming about the fear than others, the underlying theme is: “AI is going to take my job.” Or perhaps more personally: “My clients aren’t going to need me anymore.” That feeling will naturally evoke anxiety for any solopreneur: “If I build a business around [xyz], and an AI tool can start to do that, what will I have left to offer?” Well, it seems to me this path forks in two directions: Path 1: What’s the point? Any niche service I develop will be eradicated by AI within the next year. Path 2: Keep moving How can I leverage tech advances to improve my offering over the next year? Path 1 resigns to the present. What scraps can I capture while the ship is sinking? Path 2 looks to the future. What new value can I create that I couldn’t create yesterday? I try to take Path 2 — even if it’s just a few steps ahead. If nothing else, it’s a bit brighter. 💡 -Wes P.S.
