We made it! Yes, ‘we!’

In April 2024, I joined Jonathan Stark’s E365 workshop to try my hand at the insane task of starting up a daily list.

Jonathan has said plainly and often that writing a daily email is the best thing he’s done for his business.

Thinking that meant drumming up demand and revenue, I jumped right in.

A year later, turns out it was so much more…

When I first started this list, my ambitious thought was I’d aggressively build an audience of thousands, and it would be my ticket to rapid revenue.

Well, spoiler: it’s a much slower burn than you’d think…

Instead, I came to appreciate it more simply as a structured ritual to workshop my ideas.

But then, I started seeing that what I shared to a small but engaged group of new and aspiring solo consultants was actually having an impact.

Putting words or imagery to thorny problems along the soloist journey...

Enabling you to frame amorphous insights in your head into well-articulated points of view...

Further activating your brilliant thinking.

So very quickly, my order of operations shifted.

From:

This is for my business —> then for me —> then for you.

To:

This is for you first, then me, then my business.

​

Don’t get me wrong - I get plenty out of it.

• The discipline to keep curious
• The sandbox to tinker with new ideas
• The learnings when an exciting Lightbulb falls flat
• The ability to take unsubscribes as feedback, not an ego hit
• The platform from which to derive, pilot, and launch new services
• The name recognition to get invited on podcasts, webinars, and stages
• The pride in looking back at 300+ dailies forming a growing lake of tangible IP

But above it all are the surprisingly deep connections made with those who consume this little email silently, then internalize and apply it in their own way.

And perhaps even get sad when I joke about shutting it all down 😉
