💡 Your POV, but make it visual

As you’re triangulating your signature POV in pursuit of your ‘intellectual headshot’, start to think about how you might communicate your POV in visual form.

Why visual? I won’t repeat the cliche about a picture speaking a thousand words (whoops, just did), but it’s true.

Think about how you browse LinkedIn, or skim a long article, or engage with an infographic.

It’s crisp, key visuals that catch attention, stop the scroll, and most importantly, make things ‘click’ in the viewer’s mind with lightning speed.

Let’s look at some visual examples from my LinkedIn feed just this morning:

First up, Lenny's table of product manager salaries makes you stop and engage more than just text would — perhaps you even compared your own compensation to this scale. This visual doesn't scream his takeaways, but it's a start...

Tim had a sharp point of view about coaches, and found a way to communicate it quickly, with some dramatic flare.

And David used a simple yet powerful illustration to invite people to hear more about his thoughts on the evolution of one’s belief system.

But this is bigger than just what to post on LinkedIn -- these visual depictions will be your signature assets wherever you go.

As you formulate your signature POV and visuals, think of it this way:

If you had a give a talk on your POV with just one slide…

Advertise it on one billboard…

Post about it without any text…

What might it look like?

Sketch it out -- no need to be elegant at this stage.

The point is committing something visual to paper first, then refining it.
